The biggest Biotechnology annual event in Spain
The 8th Congress of FEBiotec - Biotech Annual Congress 2014 (BAC2014), the largest annual event of Biotechnology in Spain and one of the congresses with the greatest impact in southern Europe, will take place in Barcelona on 9-11 July. Promoted by the Spanish Federation of Biotechnology (FEBiotec) and organized by the Catalan Association of Biotechnologists (ASBTEC), the scientific program of this eighth edition of Biotech Annual Congress will feature highly prestigious researchers, with the attendance of Dr. Werner Arber, Nobel Laureate in Medicine or Physiology in 1978, Dr. Jean Weissenbach, Prince of Asturias Award for Research in 2001 and Dr. Maria Blasco, King Jaume I for Basic Research 2007 and director of CNIO.
The choice of Barcelona as the venue for BAC 2014 is not accidental. Catalonia is one of the great national biotechnology hubs, with a 20% of the companies in the sector. Its extensive network of research centers in biotechnology has made Catalonia a real center of biotechnology innovation in Europe.
In addition, BAC 2014 will be held in a very special date, during the Spanish Year of Biotechnology, an initiative fostered by FEBiotec and supported by the Spanish Society of Biotechnology (SEBiot), the Spanish Society of Microbiology (SEM) and the Spanish Bioindustry Association (ASEBIO).The organization of Biotech 2014 Annual Congress aims, therefore, to present the Spanish biotechnology sector, promote a meeting point for professionals and students and promote biotechnologists bioentrepreneurship and innovation, key elements for an economy based on knowledge.
